Your design, your colours
Three broken speakers. One big idea.
Siyabonga Innocent Ndwalane — Sya — bought three Bluetooth speakers. All three broke. With only R600 left and a need for music while cycling the streets of Durban, he didn't buy a fourth. He built his own.
Using PVC pipes from construction sites and electronics salvaged from his broken devices, Sya discovered that a pipe produced better acoustics than any plastic enclosure. Turn-Up was born in KwaMakhutha township — and it's been growing ever since.
"I want every household all over Africa to own my speakers."
— Siyabonga Ndwalane, Founder & DUT Innovator of the Year 2017
